In my last post I described to you the characteristics of someone who is peaceful. I don’t know whether you agree with what I wrote or not, but all I can say is that I am enjoying that state to a certain degree. And it’s good. I’d like everybody to be in a similar situation.
Without a doubt, it is possible for you to be in such a state. As I mentioned earlier, I am not 100% in that state, but I am way past what I think is the 50% mark, and it’s a cool place to be in.
Like most other things, there is a reason; a reason that makes people peaceful. Now you have to listen to me very carefully over here and you have to trust me. If we did an MRI scan of the head of a peaceful person, we would see the reason for his peace in the MRI output. And the MRI says that the reason that makes people exceptionally peaceful is that they know themselves… they know who ‘they’ basically are.
So all you have to do is know who you are and you will become peaceful as a consequence.
Believe it or not, some people are born knowing themselves. But they are the exceptions; most of us have to look deep into our minds, actually beyond our minds, to know ourselves. The upside is that you don’t have to reinvent the wheel to do this; a large number of people have done it over millennia, and many of them have left records of what they did, so all we have to do is read those records and do what we have to do.
In my search for happiness, I have read a ton of those records, done at a lot of thinking, a lot of experimentation, figured out the way forward and traversed that path. Life is full of a myriad paths, and they are not all of equal importance. There is the path of education, the path of employment, there is the path of maintaining your health, there is a path of family life, there is the path of wealth acquisition and there are many other paths. There is also the path of discovering yourself. And these are not like ordinary paths because you have to go down most of them simultaneously!
But the fact is, if you know yourself very well, thinking clearly is one of the consequences. And if you’re thinking clearly, you can go down the other paths I just mentioned more gainfully than if you were confused. So don’t you think it would be a good idea to know yourself as soon as possible to maximize the benefits from your journeys down those other paths?
