See Yourself with Your Eyes Closed!

by Lucky Balaraman

woman-eyes-closed

Did you know that with your eyes shut, you can discover a hidden treasure, namely your TRUE IDENTITY? The discovery takes only a minute, and here’s how to do it. Take note that this is a method that’s been used by sages for several centuries…

But first a question: why should you experience your true identity?

Because your true identity is free from worry, stress, doubt, anxiety, et al… and is absolutely peaceful and happy. Wouldn’t you like to be there? The good news is that you can… and it’s your birthright!

OK, on with the method…

Close your eyes.

What do you see now?

Nothing?

Wrong, wrong, WRONG!!  You’re seeing black.

Ever realized that before?

That’s not the punch line, though… we’re only halfway there, so hang with me and read on. It’ll be worth it.

Here’s what you do now: try and identify with the viewer of that black. In other words, find the answer to the question, “Who’s looking at the black?”

Come on, try. Take your time over it. It’s important.

Let me point out that when I say “the answer to the question”, I’m not talking about any words that may pop into your head in response to the question. I’m talking about feeling the answer, about being the answer.

The viewer of the black is the REAL YOU.

Oh and one more thing: while trying to feel the answer, if your mind is full of questions, doubts or comments, use them to feel your true identity by answering the question, “Who’s aware of those thoughts?”

Be advised that I am not asking you to stop thinking. Your true identity is a state of stillness and calm that co-exists with your thoughts and sensory inputs, quietly witnessing them. It’s still and calm because it’s not in the thick of all your thoughts and emotions: it’s observing them like you would watch traffic on a city street. If you’re on the sidewalk, does it matter to you what color the vehicles are? Do you get hurt if a vehicle makes an unpleasant noise? (which would be the analogy of a crazy thought.) It doesn’t matter to you because you’re only a witness and not in the vehicle.

Wise men, saints, sages and prophets through the centuries have realized this true identity and preached about it. Apart from making you peaceful and empathetic with all things, you no longer crave objects to be happy  since you are peaceful and calm without them (and of course, having them poses no problem either). Therefore you no longer have a need to be greedy, acquisitive or avaricious. We’re talking less anxiety, less frustration, less anger and less cruelty. Plus there’s a bonus: once you are settled into your true identity, the people who move with you closely become nicer to you and your immediate environment consequently becomes more pleasant!

Need I go on?

Yes. Once you have tasted your true identity, you will realize something:  your true identity has witnessed everything you’ve experienced since you were a child. It’s always been there and hasn’t changed in all those years.

So savor your true identity for yourself. It’s not often that this chance will come your way. Try the method I’ve described here. Followed sincerely, it will change your life, “guaranteed” !

To your happiness,

Actually I do not see black, I usually see colours when I close my eyes (not afterimages, these colours move and change)

Not an issue… now try and feel that you’re the one seeing those moving and changing colors. Do it frequently and soon you’ll always be the peaceful witness!
